We – Raija and B-O Larsson – have had the great opportunity to stay for a considerable period of time in Thailand and making several wonderful Thai friends. Through these friends we have learned about Thailand and its traditions and custums and about life in the regions where we live – the Klaeng District.
We have also become aware of that there are quite a few children living in this district who only have limited economical means for completing a basic school education.

Though the Klaeng District is a relatively wealthy part of Thailand, poverty exists and children need to work in order to contribute to their families, whereas their parents do not have sufficient economic means in order to make it possible for their children to complete school.

There is no child protection welfare service similar to those we have in Sweden. Children are often being
abandoned by their parents and handed over to a relative or another family who are unable to let them
go to school. The option for some children, who are without parents or relatives caring for them is living in the street or at an orphanage in the Bangkok. Living in a metropolitan area under these conditions often does not lead to a good future.

It is very important for a child’s psychological, social and educational development to live in a family, where the child will get care and attention and provide means for them to complete school. Without education, they will have serious problems providing for themselves in the future.

There is also a substantial risk for being used or exploited with life-long suffering as a result.

We have started the Child Care Thailand (CCT) in order to help these children. The purpose of CCT is to provide children with an opportunity to teaching in Primary and Secondary School and indirectly an acceptable accommodation. From the start we had invaluable help of a couple Thai friends, Montha Sangmaiung "Tuk" & Wasana Charoenruay "Kung". There have been some changes during autumn 2013, one of the interpreters, "Tok" did leave because of another commitment.

The assistance to children for a great part go through schools in the Klaeng district. Teachers and personnel at schools have good knowledge of the families at need in the area. Aid is distributed and controlled by the schools. Teachers keep accounting and report to CCT on how funds are used to individual children – for example for school fees, costs for textbooks, clothing or school transport.

Schools are suitable for these tasks in a number of ways, one being that they function all year round,
also when we – Raija and B-O – are not in Thailand.

We will also consider supporting education beyond secondary school depending on individual children’s
achievements in secondary school and depending on what amounts that will be provided for the CCT children
support activities.

We are primarily active in the Klaeng area and its sub districts.

Your generosity will decide how many children we can help.

Education is the key to the future for a child!
